International specialist media group and digital publisher, Future plc. has announced the appointments of Rob Elms as head of a new central agency team and Nick Weatherall as advertising sales director – entertainment.

The changes follow the appointment of James Ranson to the position of ad-sales director – London.

Elms will lead a six-strong agency-facing team briefed with generating print and iPad revenues across the technology, entertainment, photography and sports groups. Elms’ team has been tasked with focussing on the hard to reach Male ABC1 audience and will also focus on creating new, innovative and exciting creative solutions to boost readership and revenue. Prior to joining Future in 2008, Elms held positions at Mediaedge, MediaCom and MediaVest.

“If I could design my perfect job at Future it would be my new role. Building on my agency experience and knowledge of Future’s portfolios, running a team that is focused entirely on accelerating Print and iPad revenues from media agencies is a very exciting prospect,” commented Elms. “The team we have put together has vast experience in dealing with media agencies, and I'm thrilled at the potential we have to drive growth from these areas.”

Weatherall will leave his role as advertising sales director – creative, to take over Elms’ previous role as advertising sales director – entertainment. Weatherall will drive forward Future’s position within the games, film and music community as a leading media portfolio. Weatherall’s role will see him working extensively with Future’s entertainment clients to ensure further growth in its core markets. Weatherall has a total of 12 years’ experience with the group, originally leaving in 2001 to join Rapp Media and the TRG Strata, before returning in 2005.

Of his new role Weatherall said: “I am extremely excited to be responsible for driving commercial revenues for Future’s Entertainment Group…I cannot wait to challenge the team to take the portfolio forward.”

James Ranson, added: “In a period of such positive change and innovation at Future, it is fantastic that in Rob and Nick we have two longstanding and talented leaders with impeccable records taking on these new challenges.”
