Many advertising folks, it seems, don't really want to be in advertising at all. It’s almost as if the term has become a dirty word. However, at The Drum Advertising Awards, we want to celebrate advertising for all that it achieves. For the industry, for the society. In terms of real sustainable growth and for the social good they inspire.

VCCP won the Advertising Strategy of the Year Award at The Creative Awards 2017

This is the award scheme that will identify the best, most creative and innovative work in the industry. To do that, we have assembled a team of industry experts.

The 2018 judging panel includes RBS chief marketing officer, David Wheldon; Vodafone UK's brand director Bilge Ciftci; Facebook/Instagram's global creative strategist, Elizabeth Valleau; J. Walter Thompson London's creative director, Jo Wallace; Publicis' chief creative officer, Nick Law; Mr President's chief creative officer, Laura Jordan-Bambach; Grey London's chief creative officer, Vicki Maguire and St Luke's executive creative director, Richard Denney with more to be announced. Enter now.

Valleau wants to see brands that really listen to and empower passionate communities. "We also need see true diversity - in voice and thought," she said. "And wow, it would be great to see truly mobile-first work and inspired use of new tech platforms. This is where we live, and yet the creative energy is still focused elsewhere. This is the time to define their use."

Last year, at The Drum Creative Awards, VCCP won 'Advertising Strategy of the Year' for their work with London Midland.

Alumni judge, Wayne Deakin, executive creative director, Huge believes that entrants should keep it simple. He said: "Keep it on point and don’t waffle on and try too hard to dress it up with nonsense. If its good it will show and be confident in your work.

"These are awards are great because they are open to all. There’s no barriers to entry that so often get in the way of creativity. I also like the set up where you have agency, technology companies and brands judging together at the same time, so you get a broad view on the work from all sides."

Awards serve as a mirror to us, expressed Valleau. "What are our values? Where are we going? What kind of future do we want to create together? When we award work we are voting for what we want that future to look like.

"It's never been more important to be honest and conscious about the work we want to represent us as an industry. It's not just about winning an award, but showing the world what we stand for."

The Drum Advertising Awards 2018 are open for entries globally. The entry deadline is Friday 14 September, download your entry pack now and show the industry the outstanding work you have been producing.
