Lazada helps Muslim-friendly business go digital ahead of Ramadan
E-commerce platform Lazada is helping Muslim-focused businesses in the Kampong Gelam area in Singapore to go online in a new partnership ahead of Ramadan.
Aside from this partnership, Lazada will also introduce a “Halal Channel” category on its platform / Visit Kampong Gelam website
The partnership with the One Kampong Gelam association sees Lazada using its “Deals Nearby” feature in its app to allow visitors to the area to see deals and vouchers from the businesses.
Lazada will also onboard these businesses on its platform and conduct seminars on e-commerce to educate and prepare them on the new, including live streaming on LazLive, and running campaigns.
For the upcoming Ramadan celebrations in April, the Alibaba-owned platform will support various OKG festivities and events, with Kampong Glam as the anchor partner for Lazada’s upcoming 4.4 campaign.
Aside from this partnership, Lazada will also introduce a “Halal Channel” category on its platform to highlight Muslim and Halal-related products for all Muslim businesses.
The “Halal Channel” on Lazada will also help businesses reach their intended customers through non-food-related Muslim products, from fashion to home & living, including festive decorations.
There are also plans to introduce a Halal Cooking Show, as well as the distribution of groceries to those in need in the precinct.
“Our dedication to helping businesses big and small succeed on e-commerce has revealed that a specialized approach to helping them can drive engagement and traffic, especially given the various cultures and communities unique to this country,” said Loh Wee Lee, chief executive of Lazada Singapore.
“Products and food available on Lazada must be reflective of our community, and our new Halal Channel was designed to support the Muslim and Halal businesses and shoppers. We’re excited to work with the community of Kampong Gelam and heartened that we can play a small role and be a part of their Ramadan festivities.”
