Twitter to add tweets from those you don’t follow to timeline

Twitter has updated its definition of timelines so that content that is popular or might be of interest will be shared on a user’s timeline.

“When we identify a Tweet, an account to follow, or other content that’s popular or relevant, we may add it to your timeline,” Twitter now says on its support page.

Last week, users complained that tweets favourite by friends were appearing in their streams – something which previously did not happen.

“Our goal is to make your home timeline even more relevant and interesting,” the company said.

The timeline is not the only section of Twitter that is being changed: a policy update now allows images of a deceased family member to be removed by request.
