Aegis Group appoints Mike Young as chief information officer (CIO)

Aegis Group has appointed former Post Office Ltd. chief operating officer Mike Young to the Executive Committee position chief information officer (CIO).

Replacing Bob Fawthrop, whose consultancy role as IT director for Aegis Group ends In October 2012, Young will report directly to CEO of Aegis Group Jerry Buhlmann.

Speaking off the appointment Buhlmann commented: ““I am delighted to welcome Mike to Aegis and the Executive Committee. The role of CIO is integral to the business’s future development and we are all looking forward to working with Mike to drive forward our global strategy for IT transformation, to ensure that technology is a pivotal business advantage for the organisation and our clients.”

During his time with Post Office Ltd. Young was responsible for ensuring all service delivery to the Post Office’s 21 million customers who make approximately 31 million visits and 47 million transactions per week. Prior to working with Post Office Ltd. Young worked in a number of senior service management and IT roles with companies including, BT, Verizon and Orange, Thales, the British Police Force and British Army.

Young added: “It is an exciting time to be joining Aegis as the business goes from strength to strength and is looking to deliver significant IT change in order to empower its people and clients further, on a global scale.”
