Today, The Drum is pleased to announce the launch of Ask The Drum, a new search function powered by generative AI that allows readers to engage with our extensive content library in new and exciting ways.

Powered by Miso AI, Ask The Drum is a simple, text-based chat interface through which users can pose a broad range of questions related to our areas of focus, such as agency strategy, brand campaigns and the use of emerging technology in marketing. The system generates a succinct natural language response in a matter of seconds, negating the need to spend unnecessary amounts of time digging through The Drum’s vast content library when you need a quick answer to a particular question.

Each response will include links to relevant stories from The Drum, in case you’d like to dig in a bit deeper. We’ve also embedded Ask The Drum into our articles to suggest follow-up questions based on the subject you’re reading about.

Best of all, Ask The Drum – unlike some other AI-powered chatbots – is trained entirely on our own copyrighted content. That being the case, you’ll never have to wonder where the information is being drawn from or whether it was scraped without consent from another copyrighted source on the internet.

Like any reliable expert, the system is designed not to fabricate information; if your query doesn’t pull up any information from our system, the chatbot will tell you, very simply, that it doesn’t have enough information to provide a response. By and large, however, if you’re asking about a subject that we regularly cover, Ask The Drum will be able to provide you with some helpful insights.

Ask The Drum is currently trained on The Drum’s articles, but as a part of its ongoing training will soon include inputs from the audio and video content on our site, along with search rankings data. Ultimately, these additions will help enhance the accuracy, reliability and scope of responses from Ask The Drum, enhancing the search experience.

We invite our readers to begin experimenting with Ask The Drum today. Just visit the page and get started and we encourage you to use the feedback links to let us know what you think.

As always, we strive to foster collaboration and conversation through our work. Please bear in mind that, like many novel generative AI systems, Ask The Drum may occasionally behave in unexpected ways. Our team is working actively to iron out any factual errors and we remain committed to doing everything in our power to ensure that this system is developed responsibly, safely and in a manner that’s maximally useful to our audience and our partners.

Thanks so much for being a part of The Drum’s community and we look forward to your feedback.
